Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) Undefeated 2012 U.S. Olympian Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring will tangle with Colombia’s Luis Eduardo Flores in a slated 10-round lightweight bout on PBC’s Toe-To-Toe Tuesday’s on Tuesday, February 9th at the Sands Bethleham Events Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The bout will also be televised on Boxeo De Campeones on Fox Deportes, with coverage beginning at 11PM eastern time/8PM pacific time.
The 30-year-old upstart Herring (14-0, 8ko’s) represented the U.S. during the 2012 Olympic games after earning the U.S. National Amateur title in the same year. In 2015, the native of Coram, New York, was brilliant as he racked up four wins in the calendar year, including a dominating performance against Yakubu Amidu, earning an unanimous decision last October in Cincinnati.
“I know the spotlight will be on me, but I will keep my cool and focus on getting the win,” said Herring. “Training has been going really well because I stay in shape year round. I know my opponent is tall and rangy and has a good punch. I am preparing myself to make adjustments and be ready for anything. I’m looking to get the win by any means necessary.”
The battled-tested Flores (21-2, 17ko’s) has won two straight after dropping a 10-round affair against Jose Luis Prieto in October of 2014.
The 28-year-old native of Magangue, Colombia, turned pro in 2011 and reeled off 13 straight wins, including 12 inside the distance, to start his career before enduring his first setback in 2013.
“I will take advantage of this opportunity and I want to thank my team for getting this fight,” said Flores. “I am 100 percent positive I will win this fight. The only thing I know about Herring is that he likes to run a lot. I am coming to get a knockout and take away Herring’s ‘0’.”
Flores will be making his U.S. debut on February 9th.
