Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) – Suffolk PAL product Famous Wilson scored a gorgeous straight right hand to finish off Christian Gaines of John’s Gym, Saturday night as the 90th edition of the New York Daily News continued at the St. Lawrence Recreation Center.
Wilson, who earned the Empire Casino Punch of the Night, was crisp and clean from the get go, never allowing the southpaw Gaines to get on track. He has able to drop the right hand just enough to bait Gaines and connect with a punch that brought the house down.
“It was a straight right hand. I wanted to keep using that right hand in the fight,” Wilson told to the NY Daily News after his win. “He was a southpaw fighter, everybody knows when you’re facing a southpaw fighter you have to drop the right hand and it kept connecting every time for me.”
Harley Burke, was dubbed the PC Richard Boxer of the Night, as he dominated Thomas Jones (Unattached) throughout their bout. The 21-year-old slick product out of Champs BC, used his reach and jab to score at ease.
The Colony Pest Bout of the Night involved a very entertaining affair between Adrian Frometa (Bronxchester BC) and Qadir Artis (Main St. BC). It was a spirited bout from the start, as Frometa was able to connect and land sharp punches mid-way through their contest. He kept the pressure up late, rolling to a 5-0 decision.
Action will continue at the famed Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn on Wednesday.
