Rising middleweight Napoleon looks for fourth straight win

Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) Alicia “The Empress” Napoleon looks for her four straight win to start her career when she tangles against Latashia Burton Friday night at the World Resorts Casino in Queens, New York.

Napoleon (3-0, 3ko’s) is coming off a dominating first-round stoppage over durable Natalie King back in July. The 31-year-old native from Linenhurst, New York, jumped all over King from the opening bell.

She swarmed her unleashed a barrage of punches, pushing her back against the ropes, before referee Joe Higgins stepped in and halted the action just 19 seconds into the stanza.

Napoleon is ranked as high as No.2. as a middleweight contender.

“She has a ton of strength and she is already world ranked, she will be fighting for a title soon,” said Hall-of-Fame promoter Lou DiBella.

King entered the bout having never been stopped before in her career.

Burton (4-4) has dropped two straight, including a ten round unanimous decision setback against Maricela Cornejo back in August. That bout was for the vacant WBC International female super middleweight title in Florida.

The 31-year-old Burton, who hails from Louisiana, had won three straight before her two-game slide.
