Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) – Philadelphia amateur standout prospect Darmani Rock made very quick work of his opponent Carlos Blake during his pro debut Friday night at the DC Armory in Washington, DC, as he scored an early first-round KO in their scheduled four-round affair.
The 20-year-old Rock (1-0, 1ko) came out charging like a young bull, content on ending the fight with one jarring punch.
However, after hurting Black with solid blows, Rock need to work a bit more as he kept applying pressure.
He landed a vicious right that staggered Black against the ropes.
The overmatched 31-year-old was about to fall when Rock, who was standout amateur and compiled a brilliant 2014 campaign, ended the bout after he threw a nasty left hook that put his opponent down hard — and for good.
Blake, who fell to 1-4, was done before he hit the ground, but referee Michelle Myers went through the motions anywhere.
It was a moot point, though, as the inevitable end came at the 1:54 mark of the round.
