BY: Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) Dalias Perez came out aggressive and never stopped pressuring Alex Rodriquez throughout their open class final Saturday night at Croydon Hall in Middletown, New Jersey and in the process captured the New Jersey Golden Gloves title in the 15-16 year-old novice 119lb. championship affair.
From the opening bell, Perez bullied Rodriguez and kept attacking him from all angles. He landed some very solid body shots within the first 30 seconds of the round, causing Rodriguez to become tentative the rest of the round. Perez (P.A.C.B.O) kept using his jab and caught Rodriguez (Unattached) walking in a couple of times to close out the first round, easily winning it.
In round two, was more of the same as Perez came out firing, racing from corner to corner to catch Rodriguez, who to his credit did not back down. After a quick exchange at the far neutral corner, Perez was deducted a point for hitting Rodriguez on the side of the head after a break.
Two straight left moments later by Perez could have warranted a standing-eight but they were sound scoring blows as he took the second round.
Rodriguez was more spirited in round three, almost provoking Perez to come at him and exchange, and Perez quickly obliged by again scoring with short compact jabs en route to the win.
