Demond Nicholson (10-1, 10Ko’s) will look to rebound from his first career loss when he takes on Rahman Mustafa Yusubov in a slated six-round main event Saturday night at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washinton, DC.
The 21-year-old native of Laurel, Maryland was upset by Lekan Byfield back in November, but what was more alarming was that Byfield scored a six-round TKO over the hard punching Nicholson.
Nicholson reeled off 10 straight wins since turning pro in 2013 and they all came early on in fights. His reputation for having heavy hands and massive punching power has been on display for the past year or so. His first eight fights all ended within two rounds, with seven of them ending in the first round, but his loss against Byfield was perplexing.
He will have the opponent to get back on track against Yusubov (11-19, 9ko’s), who will be looking to break a four-bout losing streak.
