Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) Alicia “The Empress” Napoleon scored for her fourth straight win to start her career when a battered and bruised Latashia Burton could not answer the bell for the fourth round of their Friday night bout at the World Resorts Casino in Queens, New York.
Napoleon (4-0, 4ko’s) entered the contest, coming off a dominating first-round stoppage over durable Natalie King back in July. The 31-year-old native from Lindenhurst, New York, jumped all over King from the opening bell and she did the same against Burton.
She chased around Burton in the first round and in round two, Napoleon was able to land overhand rights and counter rights to the head, forcing the taller Burton to think twice about engaging.
In the third round, Napoleon scored several more rights, forcing Burton to tie her up. Burton was clearly hurt and tired and was not able to keep up with Napoleon’s fast pace.
However, after just surviving round three, Burton decided enough was enough as she did not get up off the stool to answer the bell for the fourth and final round.
Burton has dropped three straight and falls to 4-5.
Napoleon is ranked as high as No.2. as a middleweight contender.
“She has a ton of strength and she is already world ranked, she will be fighting for a title soon,” said Hall-of-Fame promoter Lou DiBella.
