A fringe contender, Maicelo (23-2, 12 ko’s), comes into the contest having won two straight after losing an unanimous decision to Darleys Perez (10-14-5, 7 ko’s) for the then interim WBA World Lightweight title back in 2015.
The 32-year-old native of Callao Peru, possess serious KO power having amassed 12 in his career.
He is a slick boxer, who is a solid counter puncher as well and will have some opportunities to connect against the struggling Gil, who has dropped 10 of his last 12. The 33-year-old has been knocked out seven times in his career since turning pro back in 2006.
In super lightweight action, Yordan Frometa (8-0, 6ko’s) meets Ken Alvarez (7-3-2, 1ko) over six rounds. Alvarez has dropped three of four.
Welterweight southpaw Anthony Miller (3-1, 3ko’s) dances with Gledwin Ortiz (3-1, 3ko’s) over six rounds, while rugged Greg Jackson (6-2-1, 2ko’s) goes up against Joel Vargas (4-16-2, 4ko’s) and Jaron Ennis (1-0) sees Luis Ramos (0-1) in a four-round contest.
Wilmington, Delaware rugged boxer and light heavyweight David Murray (3-1, 3ko’s) steps into the ring against Kentrell Claiborne (4-11, 3ko’s) in a four-round bout, while Raul Lopez (9-2-1) and Edgar Cortes (2-1) meet in a four-round featherweight bout.
Two winless boxers look for their first win of their respected careers, when Blake Raditz (0-1) takes on Yoeglys Duverger (0-1) in a four-round super middleweight bout.
Rounding out the action, Daniele Scardina takes on an opponent to be named later in a light heavyweight bout over four rounds.
