LaManna handles Bruce; Green stays undefeated

Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) In his first fight at junior middleweight, Thomas LaManna earned a tough six-round unanimous decision over gritty Ayi Bruce at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Beach Haven, New Jersey.

LaManna (18-1, 7ko’s) rebounded from the lone loss of his career, when he scored an eight-round unanimous decision over Joshua Robertson in August.

LaManna was not overly impressive in that bout and looked tentative at times, perhaps there was some carry over from his setback against rising prospect Antoine Douglas last March.

However, against Bruce, LaManna was able to slow him down late with body shots that really added up on the scorecard.

This was LaManna’s first fight as a junior middleweight after campaigning as a 160-pound middleweight

Two judges scored it 60-54, while a third saw it 59-55.

Bruce (23-11, 15ko’s) has dropped eight of his last 11 bouts.

Ian Green (7-0, 5ko’s) scored an impressive fourth-round TKO over K’Lon Spencer (4-3, 3ko’s), while Arturo Trujilo (7-0, 4ko’s) and O’Shanique Foster (8-0, 5ko’s) each scored first-round TKO wins.
