Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) Thomas LaManna and Joey Dawejko will both look to rebound from losses, when they are both featured on the undercard of Showtime Showbox series Friday night at Bally’s Atlantic City.
The card is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and has several high profile middleweight prospects on it including Sergiy Derevyanchenko (5-0, 4ko’s) who headlines the card as he tangles with rugged veteran Elvin Ayala (28-6-1, 12ko’s) over 10 rounds as the main event.
Hard-hitting Ievgen Khytrov (10-9, 9ko’s) takes on New York State champion Nick Brinson (17-3-2, 7ko’s) over eight rounds as the co-feature.
LaManna (16-1, 7ko’s) is coming off a sixth-round TKO loss to highly touted Antoine Douglas back in March. LaManna could not keep up with Douglas’ speed and power as he was floored three times in the sixth. The 23-year-old native of Millville will take on Joshua Robertson (7-8, 2ko’s).
“He’s tough, durable,” LaManna said of Robertson. “He really came to fight last time. He brought a real tough fight, but I still won the fight easy. I won every round, and I think I won every second of the fight. I definitely want to stop him this time. I want to make a statement.”
Robertson has dropped three of four and has been knocked out four of his last six times.
Dawejko (14-4-2, 7ko’s) is coming off a tough heavyweight battle against Amir Mansour in May.
“I felt bad,” Dawejko said after the loss “I needed to do more. But even though I took a loss career-wise, I think experience-wise, it was the best thing for me. It taught me who I was and what I needed to do and what else I needed to work on to get to where I want to go.”
Also on the card is a an eighth-round junior welterweight meeting between Regis Prograis (14-0, 12ko’ against Amos Cowart (11-0-1, 9ko’s).
