Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) Heather “The Heat” Hardy earned a very close and tough split-decision win over Noemi “La Rebelde” Bosques Friday night at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The scoring was very tight and some ringside observers had Bosques winning the fight. The judges saw it 77-75, 77-75 for Hardy, while the third had it 77-75 for Bosques, who dropped her second straight close bout — both by way of split-decision.
Hardy improved to 13-0 and got in more work than her last time out in the ring. Prior to this fight, she had a very short outing against Renata Domsodi after an accidental head but in the second round caused an eye injury to Domsodi prompting the bout to be ruled a no contest. The fight was for the WBC International female super bantamweight title.
The 33-year-old Hardy and Brooklyn, New York native, is the No. 2 ranked super bantamweight in the U.S. and eighth in the world.
Bosques, who is coming off a split-decision loss at the hands of Nydia Feliciano back in March fell to 8-2-2.
