Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) Rising featherweight Evgeny Gradovich will meet Jesus Galicia in a slated 10-round contest Friday night at the Centro Deportivo Boxing Unitres, in Picanya, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain.
Gradovich (20-1-1, 9ko’s) is fresh off an eight-round split-decision win over Aldimar Silva Santos back in October after suffering the only loss of his career. He couldn’t get off the stool in the eighth-round of a scheduled 10-round contest against Lee Selby for the IBF World featherweight title.
A clash of heads caused a nasty cut over Gradovich’s right eye, which prompted the stoppage as he was trying to defend his belt.
Galicia (13-8-1, 8ko’s) has dropped two of four, but he did score a nice knockout win over Oscar Gonzalez in during that period.
Also featured on the card is the always durable Alansbeck Kozaev (26-2-1, 7ko’s), who will take on Renald Garrido over eight rounds in a welterweight clash. Garrido (15-12-1, 2ko’s) has dropped five of seven overall after a brief two-fight winning streak, while Kozaev has dropped two of three.
Heavy handed and undefeated light heavyweight Sergei Ekimov (13-0, 7ko’s) clashes with Carlos Mena (4-1, 1ko) over 10 rounds. Rounding out the card, Sergei Shigashev makes his pro debut against Ivan Grynyuk (7-5-1, 3ko’s) in a super welterweight affair.
