Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) –The opening night of the New York Daily News kicked off Thursday and Davaughn Stevens  scored a wild and impressive win over fellow John’s Boxing Gym mate Kealim O’Hare in front of a packed house at B.B. Kings Club in Times Square.

The 27-year-old native of Harlam, took up boxing after consistently getting into street fights. His uncle Sy Cleckley urged him to take out his aggressive in the ring, as he grew more tired of watching him get into fights and trouble.

On Thursday night, Stevens scored two impressive knockdowns in the first round of his three-round affair against O’Hare, and in the process scored the Empire Casino Punch of the Night courtesy of a gorgeous crushing right jab to the chin during their 152lb pound novice contest.

In the Control Pest Fight of the Night, an aggressive and feisty, Keston Harper defeated Michael Feeney, holding off a third-round charge from Feeney, who scored two standing eight-counts in the third round.

Feeney was knocked down in the first and had his nose bloodied in the second
