Douglas and De Alba meet in featherweight clash


Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) In a much-anticipated bout between rising east coast prospects, Omar “Super O” Douglas meets Frankie De Alba in a slated 10-round affair Tuesday night in the main event of PBC Toe-To-Toe Tuesdays at Sands Bethlehem Pennsylvania. The bout will air on FSI and Boxeo De Campeones on Fox Deportes.

Douglas (15-0, 11ko’s), a native of Wilmington, Delaware, is a solid boy puncher and has stepped up in class over his last several bouts. He proves to be the stiffest test of the 28-year-old De Alba’s (17-1-2, 6ko’s) career.

The 24-year-old Douglas has stopped seven of his last nine opponents, and had a very impressive showing against 48-fight veteran Daniel Attah last April, before earning a tough 10-round unanimous decision over Braulio Santos in September.

This will be his third scheduled 10-round tilt, while De Alba will be participating in his first 10-round bout. After dropping his pro debut back in 2011, he won his next two and followed that up with two draws.

However, he started to find his groove in the ring, and promptly proceeded to win his next 15 bouts.

In the co-feature, undefeated Detroit, MI. native Leo Hall (8-0, 7ko’s) battles rugged Christopher Brooker (6-1, 5ko’s) of Philadelphia in a light heavyweight affair, while Wilmington, Delaware native and rising prospect Kyrone Davis (9-0, 4ko’s) tangles against Andrew Hernandez (10-2-1, 2ko’s) of Phoenix, AZ, in a slated eight-round middleweight bout.

In a six-round battle of local lightweight’s Jerome Conquest (3-1, 1 KO) of Philadelphia battles Christian Molina (4-1, 3 KO’s) of Allentown, PA, while, Stephen Fulton (7-0, 3 KO’s) of Philadelphia takes on Joshua Greer (3-0-1, 2 KO’s) of Chicago, IL. in a six-round lightweight action,

In other action, junior welterweight bout, Milton Santiago Jr. (12-0, 3 KO’s) of Philadelphia fights Angel Hernandez (9-5-1, 3 KO’s) of McAllen, TX over eight rounds.

Hard-hitting super welterweight Junior Castillo (8-0, 8ko’s) of Reading, PA. battles veteran Eduardo Flores (23-18-3, 15ko’s) of Quito, Ecuador in a scheduled six-round clash. Derrick Bivins (2-3-2, 1 KO) of Philadelphia, PA will take on undefeated Chris Colbert (3-0, 2 KO’s) of Brooklyn. NY. in a featherweight affair, while in the televised co-feature, Miguel Cruz (11-0, 10 KO’s) of Lake Mary, FL will tangle against Virgil Green (11-3, 4 KO’s) of Vancouver, WA in an eight-round welterweight affair.

Rounded out the action, Earl Newman (7-0, 6ko’s) of Brooklyn, NY will step inside the ring against Victor Kpadenou (10-8, 5ko’s) of Contonou, Benin in a six-round heavyweight bout.
