Breaking: Filippone to defend WBF Title

Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) JMB has learned that southpaw super middleweight Frankie “The Freight Train” Filippone will defend his WBF super middleweight title August 8th, in Virginia Beach. No opponent has been named just yet.

The card is being promoted by Ponytail Promotions and no other details have been released.

Filippone (17-5-1, 4ko’s) is coming off a very impressive performance when he stopped Aaron Jaco thanks to a fourth-round TKO back in April to win the then vacant WBF North American super middleweight title.

The 35-year-old native of Norfolk, Virginia rebounded nicely after he dropped a ten-round unanimous decision to Shawn Miller last August before beating Jaco.

He turned pro in 2008.

  1. Frankie is a good boxer, but I think he is just stuck at club level, I love that he is a fireman and respect that but that’s it for this guy!
