BY: Richard Quiñones (Journeymen Boxing) Female super flyweight Patricia “Patty Boom Boom” Alcivar rebounded nicely from a tough loss over the summer, by unanimously defeating Canada’s Peggy Maerz in a six-round affair at The Space at Westbury in Long Island on Friday night.
Alcivar (8-3, 3ko’s), who last fought in July and suffered a tough split-decision loss to Chantel Cordova for the then vacant NABA female super flyweight title, looked solid in the one.
She did not do anything overwhelming but was more active then Maerz and landed cleaner crisper blows in the win.
Maerz fell to 2-7-1 and has now dropped five straight, while Alcivar gets her first win of 2015.
Her setback to Cordova was her only fight in 2014 and she only fought once in 2013, which was a slugfest against Eileen Olszeski for the vacant IFBA World Flyweight title.
The 38-year-old knocked the rust off on Friday night and expects to be more active this year.
